Shelby Scalera began taking yoga classes in 2000. With her background in modern dance, ballet, and gymnastics, she was instantly hooked. She has a BFA from the University of Arizona and a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Loyola University and taught pre-school/kindergarten for many years before receiving her RYT-200 with Yoga Alliance in 2017. She trained with acclaimed teachers like Dorota Ellington, Denise Kay, and Rev. Jagadisha. Shelby realized how powerful yoga can be when a combination of Hatha and restorative yoga salvaged her from the “baby blues” after having her first son. She immersed herself in the yoga lifestyle in hopes of making a difference in the lives of others, like her esteemed yoga teachers had done for her. Off the mat, she enjoys kayaking, hiking, skiing, and time with her family on the lake and down the shore. She lives in Lake Mohawk, NJ with her husband, two sons, and schnoodle dog.
